The Philipps-University of Marburg is a German university steeped in tradition and, in fact, the oldest university in the world that was founded 1527 as a Protestant institution. It has been a place of research and teaching for nearly five centuries.
The Institute of Molecular Biology and Tumor Research (IMT) is part of the medical faculty of the Philipps-University of Marburg. Research at the IMT is dedicated to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of cancer and to establish novel therapeutic concepts. Despite intense efforts over the past decades, drug resistance to conventional chemotherapy remains the main challenge of cancer therapy. RNAi screening is employed with the goal to elucidate and ultimately target novel molecular pathways leading to drug resistance.
