  Stefan Wiemann

The Group of Dr. Stefan Wiemann is part of the Division of Molecular Genome Analysis (Prof. Annemarie Poustka) at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. We systematically generate and exploit genomics resources to identify novel players in cancer development and progression.

Having been instrumental in the identification of human genes and in the generation of human ORF clones, the group utilizes these to overexpress the encoded proteins, to complement the systematic downregulation of endogenous genes via RNAi. We functionally analyze gene and protein function in a variety of cellular assays, with main emphasis on identifying modulators of the cell cycle and cell migration.

The project “SMP-Cell” is funded within the National Genome Research Network (NGFN) by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

For more information visit the Molecular Genome Analysis webpage and the SMP-Cell webpage.
